Biography & Scholarship
Yun Chung examines how group composition—shaped by members’ demographics, skills, knowledge, resources, and power—affects both individual, team, and organizational behavior and outcomes. Her research explores how subgroups emerge within work groups, top management teams (TMTs), and boards of directors, and how these subgroups (or faultlines) intersect with social networks and power dynamics to influence group and organizational decision-making and performance. She also investigates how strategic HR systems shape individual behavior and firm-level outcomes. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, and the Journal of Management. In addition, she has served on the Editorial Board of Small Group Research and has received numerous fellowships, awards, and recognitions from the College of Business and Economics (CBE), the University of Idaho, and the Academy of Management—most notably the University of Idaho Presidential Mid-Career Faculty Award.
