Biography & Scholarship

Our team aims to develop:

  • novel methodologies for site-specific and sequence-unrestricted recognition of chromosomal DNA
  • probes for detection of nucleic acids with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs)
  • antisense oligonucleotides with improved hybridization and pharmacokinetic profiles
  • sensors for detection of biological and chemical threat agents

Areas of expertise: nucleic acid chemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry. More specifically: characterization of oligonucleotides, nucleoside/nucleotide chemistry, carbohydrate chemistry

I have also served as a consultant for US biotech companies and been retained as a subject matter expert on several patent litigations pertaining to nucleoside and oligonucleotide chemistry, DNA sequencing, and siRNA representing Oxford Naopore Technologies (v. Pacific Biosciences of California), BGI Genomics (v. Illumina) and ChemGenes (v. Hongene) before the United States International Trade Comission (USITC), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and different District Courts.
