Biography & Scholarship
Dr. Linda H. Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems at the University of Idaho. Her scholarly expertise encompasses Financial Accounting, Federal Income Taxation, and Quantitative Methods. Dr. Chen earned her Ph.D. in Management-Accounting, with a minor in Finance, from the University of Arizona in 2009.
Dr. Chen's research primarily focuses on financial accounting, capital market analysis, taxation, and investor behavior. She has published extensively in top-tier academic journals, including the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of the American Taxation Association, and Advances in Accounting. Her recent notable publications examine critical topics such as mutual funds' trading behavior based on earnings news, earnings manipulation, systematic risk in earnings announcements, tax haven engagement, and corporate governance issues.
Her rigorous research and active participation in international academic circles highlight her dedication to advancing scholarly knowledge in accounting and finance. Dr. Chen regularly presents her work at esteemed conferences such as the American Accounting Association Annual Meetings, European Financial Management Association Conferences, and Pacific Basin Finance, Economics, Accounting, and Management conferences. She is also a CFA® Charterholder, emphasizing her expertise in financial analysis and investment management.
Dr. Chen has received numerous awards recognizing her research excellence and service, including the Excellence in Research Award from the College of Business and Economics at the University of Idaho and the Athena Woman of the Year Award. She remains committed to expanding knowledge and contributing meaningfully to her field through continued academic research and leadership.
