Biography & Scholarship

Dr. Kukal’s research and education program contributes to improving our understanding of water budgets in agricultural landscapes and how soils, climate, and management at farm and regional scales alter the hydrology of irrigated agriculture. To answer these questions of critical importance to Idaho and Western U.S., Dr. Kukal conducts experimental research and extensive monitoring on grower fields, analyzes large volumes of satellite imagery and water data collected over decades. His goal is to help farmers, water managers, and communities use water more efficiently and sustainably.
