Aliza Plener Cover

Aliza Plener Cover is the Weldon Schimke Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Idaho College of Law. She teaches and researches in the areas of criminal law, criminal procedure, and the death penalty. Her scholarship on these topics has appeared in law journals including the George Washington Law Review, the Alabama Law Review, the Indiana Law Journal, the Harvard Civil-Rights Civil-Liberties Law Review, the Washington Law Review, the Idaho Law Review, and the Yale Law Journal Forum. She has also published editorials in the Washington Post and the Idaho Statesman. Professor Cover earned her undergraduate degree in English and her J.D. from Yale. After law school, she clerked for the late Judge Stephen Reinhardt on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, then worked as a staff attorney at the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center in New Orleans, representing indigent defendants facing the death penalty. Professor Cover currently serves as President of the Board of the Federal Defender Services of Idaho.
