Biography & Scholarship

Alistair is a Professor of wildland fire science in the College of Science at the University of Idaho. He is an associate editor on the International Journal of Wildland Fire and is currently the chair of the Department of Earth and Spatial Sciences. He has been researching forest biometrics, lidar, and wildfires for over 25 years and regularly collaborates with people across the gamut of wildland fire science and forestry. He has published more than 150 scholarly works, including book chapters and agency reports. In 2024, he was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Wildland Fire.
