The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ) began systematic sampling of benthic macroinvertebrates in the early 1990s through the Beneficial Use Reconnaissance Program (BURP), which includes assessments of biological and physical habitat conditions (Williams & Efta, 2024). This dataset provides a unique opportunity to evaluate thermal tolerance patterns and their environmental drivers across Idaho's diverse stream systems.
