Sugar beets are one of the major raw materials for sugar manufactured in the United States. Sugar beet profits are based on three key factors: beet yield, sucrose content and sucrose recovery efficiency. Nutrients, especially nitrogen (N), can affect all three factors. Based on the most current information available, this guide contains updated recommendations for fertilizer applications needed to achieve optimum sugar beet yields.
