Healthy soils are the foundation of productive, profitable, and sustainable farming systems. But they are complex environments. In the first of a two-bulletin soil health series, learn the fundamentals of soil health, including what soil is and the roles of organic matter and carbon dynamics in its maintenance; and the functions of healthy soil, including nutrient cycling and air and water regulation.
