Abstract

forage-crops-pasture crop Agriculture - Crop Production Agriculture
So that growers can meet certain goals or marketing criteria, it's important to know how to determine the quality of alfalfa hay. Indeed, producers who raise dairy quality hay can expect higher returns per ton than those of lower-quality hay. This publication describes two simple, inexpensive methods for predicting the harvest quality of first-cutting alfalfa hay in southern Idaho using the PEAQ method (predictive equations for alfalfa quality).
