Abstract
Outcome-based management (OBM) is an adaptive, collaborative approach to public land management that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) initiated in 2017 to improve rangeland health. Although it’s more flexible than process-driven grazing permits, it presents significant challenges, including constant data collection and monitoring, developing and working with a team, and submitting NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) documentation. The third of a three-video series, this eight-minute video provides an in-the-field discussion of assessing a grazing allotment from two grazing-plan collaborators, Brendan Brazee (National Resources Conservation Service) and Wyatt Prescott (Prescott Cattle). From managing plant communities to managing animal units, their insights provide a quick primer to help to improve your ability to both identify issues and their improvement on your rangeland when prepping an OBM plan.
