Abstract

agricultural-economics potatoes crop Agriculture - Crop Production Agriculture Business
This study compares economic costs and returns for producing organic potatoes on farms of two sizes, a relatively small farm with 30 to 50 acres in potatoes and a larger farm with about 100 to 120 acres in potatoes. Given the study's assumptions, organic potato production was profitable for both sizes of farm, with net return to risk averaging approximately $1,000 per acre.
