Abstract
Smith talks about the descriptive minimalism of folk and fairy tales. She further cites African folktales which have been compiled and published in the West for well over a hundred years. Among other things, Smith expresses her dislike of fairy tales, its unrealistic, silly confections that encourage passivity.
