This investigation assessed the effects of a self-management training program on the production rates of four workers classified as severely mentally retarded. The program was comprised of the following self-management components: (a) self-instructions, (b) goal setting, and (c) self-reinforcement. Results indicated that the program substantially improved the production rates for all workers for up to three months. Implications of these findings are discussed.
