Abstract
ABSTRACT-We present a mapped inventory of the amphibians and reptiles of Columbia County, Oregon, based on systematic original field surveys, historical museum records and surveys, and vouchered community member observations. We report 27 species, 23 of which are native, including 9 salamanders, 6 frogs, 4 turtles, 2 lizards, and 6 snakes. This study represents the 1st herpetological-assemblage report published for Columbia County and includes 6 species never reported. Using the maps from these data and existing literature on habitat preferences and human impacts, we analyze ecoregional associations and develop hypotheses for missing taxa and notable range gaps. We identify 5 critical sites as conservation priorities in the county.
