Abstract
*Stares in Pink* is a creepy, girly short story collection. These surrealist worlds are informed by late-stage social media and American girlboss, hyper-capitalist white feminism. My characters perform femininity like a tragic comedy. They don’t care if they are rage-y, selfish, unlikeable, and untrustworthy. They exist somewhere between complacency and complicity. In this collection, alongside cults, candy stores, and the Barbie aisle of target, privileged young women navigate violence, obsession, and make up to cultivate a self-indulgent, pink aesthetic.
