Abstract
Burbot in the Green River represent the only non-native Burbot population. The presence of Burbot is concerning for managers of the system due to the potential negative effects that Burbot may have on native and non-native fishes in the Green River. Therefore, managers of the Green River are interested in instigating a suppressing program for Burbot. This thesis sought to address knowledge gaps surrounding the ecology of Burbot in an effort to inform future suppression of Burbot in the Green River. Specifically, I evaluated the efficacy of different sampling gears for Burbot. I also identified habitat characteristics that were most related with the presence and relative abundance of Burbot. Finally, I constructed an age-structured population model to better understand how Burbot in the Green River would respond to various management actions. Jointly, the objectives should contribute to the management of Burbot in the Green River and throughout their distribution.
