Abstract
Hazard mitigation planning and mitigation strategy implementation can reduce community vulnerability to flood hazards when done properly. Mitigation strategies can aid in community resilience to flooding damages. Existing research has explored these strategies in the comprehensive plan and hazard mitigation plan; however other community plans address this hazard as well. This research investigates flood strategies found in various community plans, stakeholder perspectives on those current strategies, and how climate change may create the impetus for enhanced mitigation strategies in the future. This research explored the spatial distribution of flood mitigation strategies which is important for future prioritization of mitigation strategies.
