Abstract
Drain Songs is a novella following in sequence Grant Maierhofer’s previous book, Flamingos (ITNA Press), focusing on addiction and recovery programs and the rhetoric of individuals therein. Rather than following a straightforward addiction-to-recovery narrative, Drain Songs focuses on the ins and outs of both sides of the life of the addict/alcoholic indiscriminately to attempt to render experience more emotionally and transmit (through writing) a sense of feeling and weight in language.
