Abstract
Algorithm Aversion occurs when decision makers underutilize predictions make from algorithmic tool. This dissertation includes a literature review on Algorithm Aversion, and 4 studies investigating the effects of granting decision makers process and outcome control over the algorithm on algorithmic use. The results of the studies suggest that effects of control may not be as robust as previously assumed, and that information regarding the information prior performance may have a strong impact on evaluation of the algorithm's abilities and adoption of the algorithm.
