This dataset contains the results of the Student Perceptions of Research and Writing survey. The survey assessed student perceptions of cognitive tasks encountered throughout the completion of a research-based writing assignment. The primary component of the survey consisted of 28 scenarios that a student may encounter. Each scenario was grouped into one of seven categories of inquiry: Bibliographic instruction, Information synthesis and source integration, Information and source evaluation, Citation and academic integrity, Genre awareness, Reading, and Resilience and Recursive Processes. The survey also collected demographic information and included an open-ended response question. The survey data was collected from January to March 2026.
