Abstract
Produced water (PW) is an industrial wastewater byproduct of oil and gas production. Currently, PW is disposed of through injecting back into the ground, but deep disposal has potential links to environmental side effects, and shallow disposal has limited capacity. A sustainable alternative that both disposes of PW through other methods and offsets the increased cost is desired. This proposed solution employs adsorption, precipitation, and evaporation to recover strontium carbonate, calcium hydroxide, and low-grade salt, creating marketable products and reducing waste reinjection.
