Abstract
Do you work well in teams? Do you look to increase team innovation,
solve problems, and exceed expectations? 4-H Youth Development
professionals work with multiple groups of colleagues, partners, clientele,
volunteers and youth. This workshop presents skills identified by research
in organizational behavior and applied psychology that are critical to
building a culture that results in high team performance. It also reviews
developmental needs of adolescence to support youth-adult partnerships.
Using hands-on team challenge activities, discussion, and presentation,
participants will apply principles and practices that can improve a team’s
culture, performance, and youth development programs. This session is
based on research by Daniel Coyle who over four years studied eight of
the world’s most successful groups. Also included are research informed
practices from the UCLA Center for the Developing Adolescent.
