Abstract
Sorption of metals at the solid–solution interfaces of soil minerals and soil organic matter is an important process for metal retention and release in soils. Sorption reactions include inner-sphere and outer-sphere adsorption complexation, and surface precipitation. This chapter discusses different metal sorption reaction processes and the soil properties that influence them.
