Abstract

Infectious Disease Dementia Prevention
Increasing research findings have implicated infectious diseases in the etiology of dementia, an exposure that offers the potential for strategies for both the prevention and treatment of some cases of dementia. In this chapter, we summarize the relationship between exposure to infectious diseases and dementia and then review possible strategies related to infectious diseases for the prevention of dementia. We then explore potential options for reversing dementia associated with exposure to infectious disease.
