Abstract

Bruise prevention Crop maturity Foreign material Vine kill
The focus of harvest management should be optimizing crop quality and maximizing value. The tools available to accomplish this include selection of a vine kill method and timing, modification of factors that determine tuber susceptibility to bruise damage, adjustments to equipment operation, and prevention/removal of foreign material. This chapter focuses on management practices that can be used to optimize crop quality prior to, during, and after harvest.
