Abstract
A 3-credit graduate course at the University of Idaho, listed with the History and English Departments. Students gained first-hand experience with the following elements of archival work. 1) The theory and history that underpin archival practices such as acquisition, processing, and describing. 2) The physical process of assessing a donation, arranging, and cataloging the materials, and creating the finding aid. 3) The importance of creating opportunities for public engagement with archival materials and the practical steps of making that happen.
